Where did Christmas go?

Christingle

What with the weather keeping many of us away from church and the disruption to Schools it was a very frustrating Advent and Christmas. Thank you to all who did extra work keeping the churches going. It did make for some memorable moments. I will not forget the leak at St Ninan's Church which left a flood which 'miraculously' disappeared while I got the mop and bucket. (There is a hole somewhere in the floor which drained the water unexpectedly).

Highlights for me this year were a Carol Serivce at Craigielea Nursing Home with the youth group sixfortyseven. We sang Carols, did a sketch, gave a little talk with magic, gave out small gifts and were visited by a Santa who was 6 decades younger than the residents. Also, the Crib Service with the children on Christmas Eve. Lowlights were the lost Christingle Service but we are planning to do that now on Wednesday 2nd January 2011 (Candlemas) at 6.00 pm at St Ninian's Church.

Thank you to all who took part.

The end of a calendar year

2011 will be achallenging year for us as two churches and with other churches in Gateshead. But, it is also a year of promise. Last year I quoted Bishop Mark who said,

'Our problems are great, but the God who brought Jesus Christ back from the dead, is GREATER!'

God will have his Good News told from one generation to another and his open hand held out through us to everyone.

We have set ourselves a challenging vision for the next 5 years which involves everyone who worships in any of our Congregations and some whose hearts Christ will win and bring to our fellowship. Some more information will appear on this website about that soon.

A special project this year is a Men's Project that will be headed up by Revd Rob Bianchi invovling 3 special activity weekends.

So may God bless us this year in his service!

Revd Mark Worthington
